MS Excel Display the ‘Paste Special’ dialog box

MS Excel Display the ‘Paste Special’ dialog box

This shortcut -

Control + Alt + V (Mac: Control + Command + V)

This will open the Paste Special dialog box. At that point, you'll need to choose the type of paste you want to perform. (Of course, you can also right-click and choose Paste Special to display this dialog box.)

There are so many things you can do with paste special:

  • you may already use paste special to strip out unwanted formatting and formulas (Paste special > Values)
  • but did you know that you can also paste formatting, paste column widths, multiply and add values in place, and even transpose tables?

This feature is extremely useful.
